So, what’s with Meta?

Week one of the questions i’m sharing with the world went a little something like this:

1) What’s with Meta? Specifically, what’s with Metaverse?

*Important to note, this question was sparked by Andy Cohen’s drunken shouting on NYE about Mark Zuckerberg, the bow on top of a long rant about Mayor de Blasio.

Meta renamed themselves based on their future vision… there’s a whole lot of background that deserves a whole blog post. The Metaverse is meant to capture a 3d version of the internet. Think augmented reality, virtual reality, etc.

2)… now that i’ve entered the Meta rabbit hole, what is Bulletin?

Bulletin is Meta’s response to a popular subscription newsletter platform called Substack. Meta (Facebook) is saying they won’t be charging content creators for a while, but the catch is they are curating the creators themselves. To summarize: if you’re interesting in creating a newsletter and want autonomy to cover whatever you want, go with Substack. If you are a “chosen one”, I wish you luck with Bulletin.

3) Why is the skin on our faces so different from our bodies?

Yes, here is a true unfiltered view into my brain. The holiday break gave me too much time to look at my pores, and I want to know- why are they bigger? The answer to this question was simple and complicated all at once. The skin on our face is not meant to withstand what the skin on our bodies can, which is why it’s thinner. Thinner skin and smaller skin cells means more “stuff” can get in. Kinda like data modeling- garbage in, garbage out.
